Stephen Sommers has been fighting for employees since 1993, when he became a union organizer at the age of 24. Mr. Sommers organized low wage workers in small Southern towns, inspiring them to stand-up with personal dignity against unfair and demeaning employment practices. Mr. Sommers negotiated collective bargaining agreements valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars and brought federal charges against corporate rouges. After seven years working on the road and in the trenches, Mr. Sommers went to law school.
